Complete and partial dentures are removable dental appliances created in a special dental lab with exacting standards. The base of the unit is designed to closely follow the impression created by Drs. Connaughton and Bator, and their staff specialists.
While partial and complete dentures are made from special materials that will not succumb to the effects of tooth decay, they will none the less require some basic care and oral hygiene measures. This will help maintain the unit while also helping to preserve the health and comfort of the underlying gums.
It’s important to rinse your denture each night to remove any sugar residues, stray food matter, plaque and old denture adhesive. You should then brush the denture with a soft-bristled toothbrush and denture polish. You can then store the denture overnight by soaking it in water and tucking it away someplace safe.
Any remaining teeth in your mouth should then be brushed and flossed to complete your daily oral hygiene routine. This will help reduce your chances of suffering further cases of tooth loss, and might also help reduce your chances of experiencing bad breath.
